Then_WhatWhen Sean Hannity wondered why the national GOP is being so “timid” on the issues, he said “the GOP should know better.”

We couldn’t help but think of the GOP and the private option/DHS budget situation here in Arkansas.

We all know the arguments about why we should keep the private option, but the fact remains that Arkansas cannot afford the Medicaid program now.  What makes us think that adding more people will cost less and that our state can afford its part of the plan in 2020 when we can’t afford it today?

The Arkansas GOP should know better, too:

The GOP plans for Asa Hutchinson to be the next Arkansas Governor and is almost salivating over the idea of controlling both the state House and Senate.  Why, that will be just wonderful for the GOP!

But if the private option is allowed to continue, what happens to the GOP — in control of the entire state government — when Arkansas comes smack dab up against that financial reality of the private option in 2020?

Some say the arguing, the whining and the poliical pressure is unbearable now.  What happens when the GOP governor and Legislature is forced to either raise taxes or cut the program so that Arkansas can afford to pay its share?

The GOP will take the brunt of all that backlash from both Democrats and the conservative grassroots.  It won’t be pretty.

What then?

Nationwide the TEA Party elected a bunch of folks who said they were principled Conservatives.

It’s a fact that several here in Faulkner County Arkansas would not have been elected without the TEA Party people working for them, and hopefully will not be re-elected this time. When it came time to “DO” conservative rather than “TALK” Conservative, they’ve found “COMPROMISE” rather than “PRINCIPLE”.

    They’ll not get my vote.

You want to waffle on the Private Option? Elect yourself, I won’t help you or vote for you. In case you’ve forgotten, honesty is the best policy, and not having the courage of your convictions says you don’t have my vote or support either.

Go see if Davey Carter can finagle you another term with his Democrat buddies – Conservative Republicans want nothing more to do with you.
