Mahatma Gandhi said

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

This seems to be the case with the TEA Party in Faulkner County.

When we first started attending meetings to observe on what was happening at the city, county, and school board, we were greeted and welcomed.

The mayor was happy to have us there, talking about “involved citizens,” and how the Conway City Council welcomed our presence.

Then, as we did research on the projects the city was pushing such as a mass transit system for the colleges and downtown, they disregarded our comments, talking about their vision for Conway as reason enough to spend millions of dollars they didn’t have.

That was Conway 2021.  That was “you don’t understand, it’s complicated.”

The city hasn’t stopped spending money it doesn’t have.  Now it’s Christmas Trees.  If they bought those artsy bronze statues, it’s them too.  And Prince Street still isn’t paved.

So it seems we’re at the “fight you” part of the Gandhi quote at the city level.

TEA Party Will Change Status Quo

The Faulkner County TEA Party is engaged in changing the status quo.  We are for smaller, fiscally conservative government.

We don’t believe in a nanny state, or that parks are more important than good roads.  We believe taxes should be low to encourage business growth and job creation.

Most of all we believe in the Constitution.

The things we believe in are in many cases, opposed to the aims of our mostly liberal city government.

Elect Conservatives

With an election less than 9 months away in which all of the city-wide aldermen positions are up for reelection, we must continue the fight and elect conservatives.

By electing conservatives to every open position, we complete Gandhi’s quote; we win.

WHAT WILL YOU DO TO HELP?

So by smaller government, are you saying you’ll layoff city employees and cut services in Conway? Good luck winning an election with that message.
