Playing to Win
In this "social justice" war, we conservative Republicans are being misled.
I realize that a mind-set that requires safe spaces to shield a delicate little flower from any viewpoints that don’t slavishly agree with the liberal / socialist mantra probably isn’t capable of logical thought, much less critical thought.
However, in this “social justice” war, we conservative Republicans are being misled by people the Italian-American community used to call “Moustache Pete.”
Old Uncle Pete was a guy that clung to the old ways, whether they worked or not, because that’s what we’d always done. The old ways were to not stoop to the level where the liberals are — our reasoning was, if we acted like them, we became them.
It was a lie then and it’s a lie now.
Think of any competition you wish that requires two teams. One team will take it right to the edge, sometimes even go a bit too far and break the rules. Think New England Patriots for an example. The other team plays by the rules, always. Think New York Jets. Who’s won more Superbowls?
If you have to play like your competition in order to win in football, why shouldn’t you have to do the same in politics? We don’t become them, we remain winners!
It’s never good to coarsen our society, but it’s certainly better than losing it.
