Gov Appoints Resigned Attorney to Lead ABC
By Friday of that week Governor Hutchinson appointed Casteel to be the new Director, saying her appointment "ensures stability" for ABC.
On Friday May 19, one of two attorneys with the Alcohol Beverage Control, Mary Robin Casteel, submitted her resignation saying she wanted to go into private practice.
The following Monday a 28-year ABC employee, Milton Lueken, resigned his attorney’s position with the ABC. And 3 days later on Thursday, after a meeting in the Governor’s office, the ABC Director Bud Roberts abruptly resigned as well.
Activities over the few days left the agency with no staff attorneys and no director, but by Friday of that week Governor Hutchinson appointed Casteel to be the new ABC Director, saying her appointment “ensures stability” for ABC.
